Just a few days ago, I posted how Ron Paul uses federal loopholes to spam people who continually unsubscribe from his list. I mentioned that should Ron Paul actually stop spamming me, he’d have my vote. Bottom Line: Vote is lost. I received 12 additional emails from Ron Paul in the last 3 days.

Let’s talk about the Federal CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 — an act created for “Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography And Marketing.” In a nutshell, the act requires the following:

  1. Unsubscribe compliance
i.e. If you unsubscribe, messages should stop.
  2. Content compliance
i.e. Real from address, real name, etc.
  3. Sending behavior compliance
_i.e. Sent through legitimate servers. _

In all of the emails I’ve received, none of them come from a legitimate address. The from address (john_tate@ronpaul2012.com) receives a 550 error, indicating the email address does not exist.

Although I’ve unsubscribed from his mailings (and in fact never even subscribed), the request has not been honored. On these recent mailings, the unsubscribe form identifies that I “signed” up on August 11th, 2011 through a single opt in from an unknown source.

But it doesn’t matter. Ron Paul uses a loophole allowing him to do whatever he wants.

Yes, the same asshole that preaches about government accountability, transparency, and limitations uses a special loophole created by his house. Basically, any “political” message is 100% exempt from any portion of the act, allowing Ron Paul to use a fake email address, sign you up without consent, and ignore your unsubscribe requests.

For someone who talks a big talk, his actions are nothing short of an asshole spammer trying to get a buck. And it’s working.

Why do I say it’s working? He’s raised over 1.5 million dollars in 3 days. Yes, the asshole sent me 12 messages in 3 days because it works.

He doesn’t care about you. Doesn’t care about me. He does care about the 1.5 million though. So, if you want to donate to him, do it. It’s a free country. Vote for him too. I won’t. To me, he’s nothing short of a spamming asshole.

At least with commercial spam, there’s generally a legitimate product at the other end of the mail.
