Customer Service is Key

I’m a lucky guy. Besides having a smoking hot wife, I’ve also been able to meet some incredible people — some incredibly smart people.

One of these people, John Spence, is a great author, speaker, consultant, and advisor who makes the very complex awesomely simple. He also happens to post some amazing advice on his blog, such as:

Let me make this as Awesomely Simple as I can: for the vast majority of businesses today the ONLY competitive differentiator you have is the level of service you deliver to your customers. People can copy your product, your price, your location, your hours, your decor, your uniforms, your marketing and advertising… they can copy just about everything you offer… except the quality of the service your front-line employees deliver and the relationships they build with your customers. For many of you reading this blog, Amazing Customer Serviceor lack thereof – will be the sole determinant as to whether you are successful in your business or not. Please take a moment to read that last sentence again and think about it very carefully!John Spence re Customer Service

Great man with great advice.

Have you tried DuckDuckGo yet?

With a tag-line of friends don’t let friends get tracked, new search engine Duck Duck Go certainly new how to grab my attention.

Ok, I said new but in reality it’s a few years old… I’m just slow and it’s new to me.

DuckDuckGo.com is a search engine that doesn’t track your results… which means you can search for something online and not see advertisements related to your search on other sites you visit. As well as privacy protections (no searching history period), there are many benefits to this model.

It certainly has my attention.

2013, The Year That Was

I do use a variety of statistical data to review the websites I administer — and while I will monitor and review the others very often, I review FredPosner.com about twice a year… and with that long winded introduction, I present… 2013: The Year That Was at FredPosner.com.

Jawbone Jambox Reset

Jawbone Jambox Reset
Let’s reset this Jambox

So, at the bakery we use the Jawbone Jambox. We actually use two of them… we have the regular Jambox (in blue of course for Yeni) and in the kitchen we have the Big Jambox.

I’ll tell you why I love the Jambox in a bit — first let me tell you what to do when your Jambox doesn’t light up or when your Jambox doesn’t respond.

Windows on Apple?

One of the blogs I read religiously is Graves on SOHO Technology. Recently, Michael [Graves] posted an article about “shedding weight.”

I’ve gotten to know Michael over the years through the VoIP Users Conference. He’s a great resource to the VoIP community and takes Halloween displays to the epic level.

But I digress…

Lexmark Printer with Ubuntu 12.10

This is another one of those tech articles.

Recently, I started using Ubuntu 12.10 as my primary system. I didn’t want to… but that’s another story.

Everything installed very well, with the exception of my cheap Lexmark Pro715 printer.

I don’t want to get off on a rant here, but printers today are pure crap. When they stopped making the HP 4L, printers as a whole took a steep dive. Anyway…

The printer/fax/scanner/copier is under $100.00 and claims to have a very low price per page (based on the ink they use). It’s not listed on the Ubuntu 12.10 defaults and honestly, it was a pain in the ass to set it up.

So, please use my misfortune to save yourself some time.
