ITEXPO

I won’t be attending Astricon this year. Once again, Astricon has co-located with ITEXPO in beautiful Fort Lauderdale, similar to the old Asterisk World events (that Sangoma ended soon after acquiring Digium). Astricon, in past years, attracted an audience of more than 1000 attendees, a decent sized expo (focused on open source telephony), and multiple presentation tracks held over several days. This year, similar to last year’s Astricon, the conference will be a single track and (new for 2024) only one day long....

Well, ITEXPO 2022 has come and gone. I think there were perhaps 2-3 other people at the conference who wore a mask. This said, I did return home without covid… The presentation was interrupted by a fire alarm. Apparently some idiot decided it would be fun to smoke in the bathroom. Wasn’t cool in the 80s, still isn’t cool today. Anyway… Unfortunately, coordination was very lacking at the event and no information regarding extending time made it to any of the presenters/attendees in our room....

Sangoma recently announced that Astricon 2023 will be co-located with ITEXPO in Fort Lauderdale. Here’s their exact announcement: With tremendous excitement, we officially announce the return of an in-person AstriCon. We will ease into the in-person event by co-locating AstriCon at ITEXPO on February 13-17, 2023, in beautiful Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The longest-running open source convention, AstriCon, celebrates open source projects featuring Asterisk and FreePBX. The event will include two tracks, sessions, and an EXPO hall....

Had a great time visiting with members of the open source VoIP community in Fort Lauderdale for open source world / itexpo 2020. I was excited to discuss Kamailio and other aspects of communication as well as get some important hardware discussions in person… it’s an interesting time as hardware and software vendors seem to be merging left and right. ...

From February 11th through 15th, 2020, Open Source World (or open source summit?) will be colocated at ITEXPO 2020 in beautiful Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This year, I will be speaking the gospel of Kamailio with a presentation entitled, “Using Kamailio to Secure Your Communications” (currently scheduled for February 13th at 3pm). What previously had been Asterisk World has been replaced with Open Source World… and has attracted an incredible array of speakers from the open source RTC community; including Dan Jenkins, Lorenzo Mangani, Anthony Minessale, Nir Simionovich, Jared Smith, James Body, David Duffett, Allison Smith, Eric Klein, and more!...
