Throwing Away My Vote

I registered to vote back in 19-whatever and my party affiliation has not changed: NPA (no party affiliation). In Florida, this means I cannot vote in most primary elections — so be it. In the 2008 Primaries, I wasn’t able to vote for the either the Republican or Democratic candidate I liked. Neither of the candidates went on to the 2008 ticket and well, I guess that’s a story for another day. Of course, we’re assuming there were only two choices....

This Town Needs an Enema

Before I get started on why this town needs an enema, let me state (for the record) that Jack Nicholson as the joker is pure money. Amazing. Also, yes I think Christian Bale is a great Batman — but Michael Keaton rocked. Just saying. But I digress… this post is really about money. Real money. Real debt. Real dollars. Real Assholes. ...

Ron Paul: Spamming Asshole

Just a few days ago, I posted how Ron Paul uses federal loopholes to spam people who continually unsubscribe from his list. I mentioned that should Ron Paul actually stop spamming me, he’d have my vote. Bottom Line: Vote is lost. I received 12 additional emails from Ron Paul in the last 3 days. Let’s talk about the Federal CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 — an act created for “Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography And Marketing.” In a nutshell, the act requires the following: ...

Love Hate Ron Paul

I supported Ron Paul, twice. The key word here? Supported. I’ve always been an “Actions speak louder than words,” “show me, don’t tell me” kind of guy. Always. I may like what you say, but I don’t put belief into your words. Your actions show me what you really believe and, in my opinion, provide me a great prediction of your future actions. When I supported Ron Paul, I supported his words. He truly separates himself from the pack of other politicians by answering questions directly, bringing appropriate priority to fiscal issues, and approaching government with a limited Federal role. You would think I would be donating time to the campaign. One point, I thought about it. But, actions speak louder than words. And Ron Paul just wouldn’t leave me alone. He (through the campaign for liberty), called me. He called me again. He called me again. Despite my many, many, MANY requests to not be called, Ron Paul’s campaign for liberty didn’t care. The best way to show me you believe in government not harassing its people is to stop harassing me. I finally got the calls to stop with a certified, return-receipt letter and a threat of legal action. ...

Penn Jillette doesn't know.

It’s amazing to me how many people think that voting to have the government give poor people money is compassion. Helping poor and suffering people is compassion. Voting for our government to use guns to give money to help poor and suffering people is immoral self-righteous bullying laziness. Penn Jillette wrote a great op-ed piece on CNN today… “I don’t know, so I’m an atheist libertarian.” ...

A Quick Look at my County Taxes

Here’s the quick and dirty breakdown (I’ve rounded the percentages): Board of County Commissioners: $666.82 (31%) Library: $113.91 (6%) School Board: $931.65 (46%) Water District: $32.14 (2%) Unincorporated Services: $31.88 (2%) Sheriff: $129.17 (6%) Fire Protection: $103.51 (5%) So, the biggest amount seems, by far, to go to the School Board. I spend over $900.00 on public education– and being that I have no kids, I think that’s very generous of me. Of course, not realizing this until now is completely my own fault. ...

TSA and the Sacrifice of Freedom

There’s no big secret where I’m going here. Not too much of a secret where I’ve been either. Most everyone knows that I’m a former police officer — if you didn’t, well you do now. I’m not one to label myself a conservative, liberal, or anything like that. I’m registered NPA (no party affiliation) and that’s exactly like I like it. When I vote, I vote for whom I like, although lately that seems an impossible task… but as usual… I digress. If I were to lean one way or another, I’d most likely say my beliefs are somewhat libertarian. I believe that government is necessary, but must be severely limited. I want government out of my house, away from my body, and focused on protecting our nation from those that would cause us harm. ...

Charlie Crist – My Thoughts Pre Announcement

Fight the fight or quit. Soon, as in a couple of hours, Florida Governor Charlie Crist will announce a decision regarding his candidacy for the United States Senate. I’ve said it before, and let me state it again: I am a proud NPA (No Party Affiliation) Florida Voter. I have declared myself NPA my entire adult life, and I vote. Although I voted for Crist for Governor, if he changes parties he will not receive my vote. He’s said before that he would run as a Republican. Then he said that he would “consider” running as an Independent. Well, and forgive me for speaking to you personally Mr. Governor, here’s the thing Charlie. This is not a decision that you have to think over. This is simple. Either you have the cojones (balls) to run under your party or you don’t. If you are going to change your party, it’s being done for one reason — because you think you’ll lose. Don’t spin this any other way. I imagine that if you change from the Republican party that you will attempt to spin it as the party no longer represents what you believe, or they’ve lost track, yatta yatta yatta. ...
