Flowroute, a SIP service provider, recently enabled SMS on all of their phone numbers (DIDs). This means that if you have a DID from Flowroute, your phone number can now be used to send and receive SMS messages.

Passing time at Disney
Posted . ~2min read.
Living in Florida allows you to enjoy great beaches, beautiful weather, interesting news, and incredible discounts to Disney World. The discounts make sense— we residents become “ambassadors” to the park and generally buy food, drink, and gifts during our visits.
Yeni and I purchase an annual pass each year. We meet family at the parks, hang out with friends, and enjoy days and events for just the two of us. Before Yeni and I visited the parks together, I’d go with my godkids, cousins, family, and friends.
Because of these trips, I have some great photos through the years.

I’ve owned a few Fords in my life — from the ’78 Ford Bronco to my current 2003 Ford Expedition. Today, my truck crossed 200,000 miles.
I’m not one overly attached to my truck. I love it, don’t get me wrong. It’s very comfortable, drives well, and the air works great. This being said, if you asked me my favorite vehicle I’ve owned… I’d be at a loss.
I just don’t get emotional about vehicles.
I did love my Bronco, and I have great memories with “her.” From taking the top off and driving to Fort Lauderdale beach to off-roading with a variety of people (including my Mom) throughout South Florida. Great truck.

I’ve discussed why I love Kamailio many times on this site — and the Kamailio community remains a strong reason for my love of the project.
Alex Balashov, a VoIP Engineer and member of the Kamailio project, is a VoIP expert and his knowledge of Kamailio, SIP, and telecommunication is without question. He also happens to be the fastest typist I’ve ever seen (seriously, it’s almost distracting).

To paraphrase the song, Feeling Good:
It’s a new dawn
It’s a new day
It’s a new logo
For Kamailio
And I’m feeling good
I’m feeling good
Just in time to ring in the new year, Kamailio has introduced their new logo. Keeping in the nature of an open source project, the logo selection was conducted in the open and was open to users, developers, management, and anyone who wished to participate in the selection.

First, some history.
I attended my first AstriCon back in 2008 and somewhere, I still have my Skype for Asterisk button. At the close of the conference Digium asked for comments—I suggested that the convention look at Orlando, Florida.
Back then, I traveled from Michigan (the dating Yeni period), yet I still maintained a strong bias for Florida. I thought (with the exception of Australia/Asia) Florida could provide both a convenient travel point (for both International and domestic travelers) as well as combine the possibility of a family vacation in the Sunshine State.
Seven years later, AstriCon 2015 granted my wish and I attended Astricon2015 in beautiful Orlando, Florida.

Posted . ~2min read.
Recently, the FCC decided to publish their “informal consumer complaints about unwanted robocalls and telemarketing calls” to the interwebs.
As someone critical of government transparency, I first want to give credit where due. Releasing this information is a great step forward.
Good job!
Now, if you’re using an open source VoIP system (such as Asterisk, FreePBX, FreeSWITCH, Kamailio, etc.) it would be very easy to automatically block these numbers from reaching your phone.
