All is Quiet on New Year's Day

[][1]Conga Time! Welcome friends to 2009. Last night Yeni’s family and I went to Michael’s and were surrounded by family to enjoy the New Year’s Celebration. Last year, I was in New York City’s Times Square watching the ball drop after eating an amazing feast at Peter Luger Steakhouse in Brooklyn. Wow, that was an amazing meal… This year was more of a somber tone and I was very fortunate to be surrounded by family....

December 2008 Pics Posted

[][1]See this and more at the Picasa Site It’s a start. 😉 Over 1,000 pictures were taken in December, 2008 — perhaps due to the re-purchase of my favorite lens that died or maybe the addition of a new (fancy schmancy) flash. Regardless, many pictures were taken and as always, I like to share. I’ve selected a few and put them on the Picasa site. I think I may go to Flickr one day, but for now, I have to say I’m pretty happy with Picasa for my needs....

Christmas Day

[][1]Fred with Bear in Montgomery, MI I learned that Colombian tradition places a lot of emphasis on Christmas Eve. Last night, after eating tamales and playing Wii at Michael’s, Yeni’s family and I returned to the house, ate more tamales with friends, and then opened presents. I received some excellent presents this year, including Spider-man trinkets and a new Harley outfit for the bear. We crashed very late and woke up to find much of Ann Arbor closed....

Headin' up to San Francisco

Yesterday, we woke up at 5am and headed through the snow to take me to the airport. Even after spending 5 hours on the tarmac (and being de-iced from a de-icer named Fred), I still have to say I love American Airlines. Don’t get me wrong, I do not like flying. I hate almost everything about it… From taking off your shoes to the airline reps behind the counter (has anyone ever had a positive experience with a gate agent?...

Wednesday Schmendsday

No much to report on a very busy mid-week. We received a big snowfall last night, which found myself prepping Yeni’s car for work this morning. Can’t say I’m enjoying the though of repeating that action for the next several months. It was c-o-l-d, cold. Oh, and snowy. Last time I was near that much snow, Mom made me a cup of cocoa with little marshmallows — of course they were real marshmallows added to the cup… not the pre-mixed yucky ones....

No Bag of Crap for Me

[][1]Ah, woot you are a tease Ah… woot, your bag of crap eludes me yet again. Woot.com is an online store and community that focuses on selling cool stuff cheap. They sell one item per day until it is sold out or until 11:59pm central time when it is replaced. The site will occasionally deviate from the one-product-per-day model for a “Woot-Off”, where a succession of products are available for a period of unannounced length, usually 24–72 hours....

It's Monday. Ummm. Monday.

[][1]Fred with family at Thanksgiving Good morning world and welcome to the snowed in Monday morning edition of Fred Posner dot com. Let’s discuss the weekend… Not much happened. Let’s see, in random order: Yeni and I had Pizza so good I reactivated Fat Freddy Says The Gators beat Alabama and are headed to Miami for the Championship Game My Harley is back from the dealer… and is pretty much packed away until March (but sounds GREAT with my new pipes) Thanksgiving Pictures were posted Blogged about an idiotic FBI Warning Yeni and I started on the Holiday Vegitation and the Chicago Tribune filed for bankruptcy....

Summary: Ann Arbor to Fort Lauderdale

[][1]Fred enjoying Dunkin' Donuts Yeni and I started early — very early — Saturday morning. After loading the truck and topping off the tank, we hit I-94 somewhere around 4 am. It was BEYOND cold with the truck showing outside temperatures ranging from 10 – 15 degrees. Normally, I make as few stops as humanly possible; combing fuel stops with rest breaks (and yes, “rest breaks” means exactly what it sounds like)....

Birthdays and Moves, The Week That Was

Normally, I look forward to celebrating 2 days every year — my birthday and Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is a religious event for me. The combination of family and friends gathered to celebrate thanks brings me more satisfaction than any other time of the year. Normally I reflect on the past year and use those thoughts to write a special “Thanksgiving Message.” It truly is my favorite day of the year. Ricardo was a great friend....

Meet Cartoon Fred

[][1]Cartoon Fred There’s a great site out there where you can create a cartoon avatar of yourself — it’s called Face your Manga (it’s an Italian company). Anyway, with this site, we now have Mr. Cartoon Fred. Cartoon Fred meet the world. World, meet Cartoon Fred. Cartoon Fred isn’t really angry… he’s just drawn that way.
