I Have Left Twitter

I’ve learned a few things from Michael White throughout the time we’ve been friends. The most important being to make a mantra of Happy Wife. Happy Life. When I first joined twitter in 2008, it was a fun way to socialize with people from all over the globe. Twitter was gaining popularity within the open source telecom world and many of us would share posts, opinions, photos, whatever. The length of the tweet was perfect for sharing short thoughts and back then, there weren’t a ton of people on the platform....

Git Repo with Custom SSH Key

I love git. Love it. I’ll save my love for Gitea for another day (TL;DR: Gitea is awesome). Anyway, a lot of git repositories allow you to use ssh keys as authentication. This is a great thing, but of course, sometimes can be difficult to manage if lets say one repo for work uses one key and one that you use for a side project uses a different ssh key....

Moving to Hugo

After spending many years on Wordpress, I’ve decided to make a change in the software running this site. First of all, I have absolutely nothing against wordpress. I’ve used wordpress for well over 15 years at this point. There’s a simple reason why so much of the web is powered by wordpress – it’s clean, easy to run/maintain, and there’s great templates available. You can literally get started in 5 minutes....

Kamailio World (online) 2020

This has been a really different year. After attending ITEXPO back in February, I was looking forward to a great visit to Berlin for Kamailio World. Attending conferences is one of my favorite parts of working with open source VoIP software, like Kamailio, and to not have these personal connections to community is definitely offsetting. After the in-person conference was cancelled, a virtual Kamailio World was held this past September 2-3 to celebrate the 19th birthday of Kamailio....

Fred’s Astricon Presentation

The question: When should you use Kamailio? I love Astricon — absolutely look forward to attending the conference each and every year. For the last several years, I’ve been honored to speak at the conference and my presentation from this year has just been posted to YouTube. Enjoy! When should you use Kamailio? Any day now…

Been a fun Summer and early Fall, and although our trip to Europe should have included alcohol, we made the best of it. Yes, we’re both a little bigger than when we made the announcement, but as the due date rapidly nears… we remain excited for what shall come. Yeni “enjoying” some Pad Thai

Get Ready for Astricon 2018

This October, smart people throughout the globe will gather in Orlando, Florida —not for Disney World, Universal, or Sea World… but rather something much more exciting… open source telecom. October means AstriCon; the longest-running event devoted to all-things Asterisk. AstriCon celebrates one of the most influential open source telecommunication projects in history and also its future impact on the communications industry. At AstriCon, you get to learn from great speakers… Daniel Mierla will be talking about using the right storage engine with Kamailio, Alex Balashov will be discussing the changing winds of ITSPs in the cloud, and I will certainly not be attending Sean McCord’s talk on containing Asterisk inside of Kubernetes....
